Me & Piper!

My Yoga Journey

I discovered yoga in London over twenty years ago and it soon became a constant in my life. Uninspired by activities that many enjoy, a regular yoga practice and daily dog walk keep me healthy and sane! Passionate about the endless physical and mental benefits of yoga and how it transforms lives for the better, I completed my Yoga Alliance Professionals certified teacher training with Freestyle Yoga Project Tunbridge Wells in 2017.  My teaching draws on several styles and traditions practised over the years (including nine years in Asia), fused with the more dynamic, freestyle approach of my training.  I feel privileged to have been taught by truly inspirational yoga teachers and am grateful for the way they have transformed my life and my own teaching. A regular yoga practice helps balance an agile, strong, healthy body with a calm, sharp mind. More and more, I incorporate relaxation, pranayama (breath work), mindfulness and meditation into my own daily practice and my teaching. I believe these are to the mind what the asanas (poses) are to the body and revert to them in times of stress, insomnia or uncertainty. I am committed to exploring and meeting individual needs to make yoga friendly, fun and accessible. I have recently qualified as a Menopause Yoga Accredited Teacher with @menopause_yoga and look forward to sharing this knowledge and supporting women through their mid-life journey via a series of bespoke workshops. I hope the testimonials below will inspire you to try a class!

Client Testimonials

“In a really dark time, Lucy brought a lovely warm glowing light into the living rooms of some of our staff via her virtual yoga sessions. Lucy prepares a weekly class for our company – a gentle, 45 minute flow which is the perfect opportunity for our hard-working staff to switch off from their computers and take some well-deserved time to unwind for the evening. Lucy has been flexible, helpful and overall a brilliant instructor. Even through the screen she will be watching us on the class to ensure our yogis’ forms are correct. I couldn’t recommend Lucy enough for corporate and/or personal classes – she has a wonderful energy and will bring a period of escape into your workplace, or life.” Annabelle, HR Advisor

“I can’t recommend Yoga by Lucy highly enough! I have been attending her online classes for two months now and I have never felt better, especially in mind. I have tried other online classes but nothing compares. I feel like Lucy is in the room with me, her calming tones and clear instructions make her classes so easy to follow (even for a beginner like myself) without the need to be constantly looking at the screen to find which pose you should be in! If like me, you need an escape from the every-day just a few times a week, then do consider contacting Lucy, her classes are suitable for a broad range of abilities and ages. Beat anxiety and depression with yoga…it worked for me!”   Kelly, Shoreham

“My first exposure to yoga was during pregnancy and after giving birth, at which time I found it afforded me some ‘me time’ and kept my body moving and stretching whilst it inevitably changed. Following this, I wanted to transfer yoga into regular exercise and that is when I found Lucy and I’m so grateful I did. Lucy’s yoga has enabled my body to heal and strengthen without being overly demanding. After five months with Lucy, I was bitten by the yoga bug and extended my personal practice. A year later, I would go as far as to say that I am in better condition than before I had a baby! The structure of Lucy’s class forces me to slow and quiet down from the busy pace of my everyday life and makes me practise aspects of yoga (such as breath work) that I don’t incorporate into self-practice. The pattern of the class is the same every week, but the content varies, which keeps things fresh and develops your practice. The new online yoga classes have been an excellent adaptation to the times. It has been grounding to be able to continue with familiar activities in such unfamiliar circumstances and the extra video tutorials that you can access at your leisure are an added bonus. I would recommend Yoga By Lucy without hesitation for beginner to intermediate practice.”   Caroline, Sevenoaks

“Lucy is an amazing yoga teacher – I was very nervous of taking yoga lessons as I have a number of back issues, but after a couple of one-to-one sessions where I tried out a range of poses in a very secure setting, I gained enough confidence to join group lessons.  Her lessons are incredibly thorough and well-paced and she inspires confidence with every move.  She is calm, friendly and careful to recognise everyone’s level, adjusting moves accordingly.  I now understand why people love yoga so much! I recommend her unreservedly.”       Sarah, Shoreham

“I find Lucy’s classes a great mix of technical yoga and mindfulness.  They have a great flow from waking up the body, progressing to challenging moves and sequences and finally a super warm-down and relaxation opportunity to end – all guided by Lucy’s careful eye and gentle encouragement.  I would not hesitate to recommend both the group classes and private lessons to friends.”   Pip, Sevenoaks

“I was introduced to Lucy’s yoga by a friend and after my very first session I asked myself why I hadn’t started it years ago. My once-a-week class very soon turned into twice and given the chance I would do even more! Lucy’s style of teaching is spot-on, I find myself challenged without ever feeling overwhelmed and genuinely look forward to the classes. The improvement in my fitness and well-being have been incredible. I would recommend Lucy’s classes to anyone regardless of age or ability. It has been transformational for me.”    Louise, Sevenoaks

“After a busy day, there is no better way to relax both body and mind than with yoga. I have attended quite a few different yoga courses and Lucy is easily the best. Lucy is a fantastic yoga teacher, she is very attentive, calm, encouraging and professional. I am so lucky to have this high standard of yoga teaching on my doorstep. Just talking about it makes me want to do a class!”  Giles, Shoreham

“I love Lucy’s classes because she prepares a very precisely balanced flow that is always varied from week to week, so the ongoing development of your practice is wonderful. She is also a fun but meticulous teacher!”    Karen, Wrotham

“I have taken a number of yoga classes in the past, but none measure up to Lucy’s. I always emerge from her class feeling that I have been challenged physically, but also calm, energised and ready to tackle the day (or, if it’s an evening class, ready for an amazing sleep!). She has a fantastic knowledge of poses and an intuitive understanding of how to get the best out of her yogis, combined with a good sense of humour – no one feels intimidated or unable to participate. My strength and flexibility have improved immensely, and I hate missing a class!”  Karen, Shoreham

“Lucy’s yoga classes are wonderful – I feel two inches taller after each one.  I’ve been going for over two years and I would never miss a class – it really sets me up for the week – not only my body but mind too.  I never feel judged or pushed in the classes, but rather encouraged to take things at my own pace and I’m grateful for Lucy’s exhortation to embrace the wobbles! She’s helped me through a badly twisted ankle and plantar fasciitis.  Highly recommended.”  Elie, Shoreham

“Lucy’s Shoreham evening class is amazing. I leave feeling, calm, relaxed and far more limber than when I arrived. The postures vary each week and Lucy explains technique clearly and the mellow pace of the flow yoga allows time for you to safely get from posture to posture. So happy to have found this class!”  Susie, Kemsing

We live in a world where there’s so much need for being grounded in our bodies, minds and emotions.  I started yoga with Lucy ten months ago when quite overwhelmed with my previous job, my body was tired, twingy and achy.  Doing Lucy’s classes every week, I already feel massive improvements; so much more flexible, stronger and calmer.  I have also made some lovely friends. Lucy is a fantastic teacher;  friendly, supportive, she varies each class, gives the option of more challenging poses to those that want, as well as providing us with a beautiful relaxing savasana at the end.  I can’t recommend her enough!” Anna, Shoreham

“I always look forward to Lucy’s yoga classes. Often a bit challenging, especially when she reminds us to smile in the middle of a pose, but I always come away from her classes feeling a lot calmer and inspired. Thanks a lot, Lucy, namaste!”  Romaine, Shoreham

“Have been doing Lucy’s class in Shoreham for several months now and always feel the benefit at the end of the class.  Lucy is a very knowledgeable yoga instructor giving good instructions and with props, if necessary. Her class always flows, I come away feeling stretched and relaxed, I love this class! Thank you Lucy!”  Teresa, Otford
